How did you get started painting?

When I was about twenty, I met an artist who thought I had some talent and offered to mentor me for a while. Over several years he taught me some valuable lessons and suggested that I work in a parallel field while I developed my technique. So, I got into graphic design and commercial art as a profession while I painted in my spare time.

Who have been some of your greatest art influences?

Besides the personal mentors I’ve been fortunate enough to have in my life, painters Salvador Dali, Georgia O’Keeffe, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollack, Maxfield Parrish, Michael English and Huge Syme come to mind. There are others, but those are the artists that seem to have had the most influence on me.

How long did you paint before you found your style?

After about twelve years of trying different things, I came upon an idea that’s been the basis for many of the compositions that have followed. Over time I’ve developed and refined my technique, but I've always tried to push my own envelope. When I look back on all the work I've done, a style seems to have emerged.
